Key terms in the AI Behavioral Integrity framework. Each definition is written to be precise enough to cite and specific enough to distinguish from adjacent concepts in AI risk, governance, and evaluation.

A
AI Behavioral Intelligence
The discipline of studying how AI systems actually behave when organizations depend on them, with specific focus on whether AI reasoning holds up under real operational reliance pressure. AI Behavioral Intelligence examines the gap between how a model performs on benchmarks and how it performs when a customer, agent, or executive is relying on its output to make a decision. AI Behavioral Integrity
The quality of an AI system's reasoning being proportionally supported by the evidence available to it, calibrated to the decision it influences, and transparent about its own limitations. A system with behavioral integrity produces output whose confidence matches its evidential foundation, whose recommendations respect its decision authority boundaries, and whose signals remain reliable when someone acts on them. AI Reasoning Integrity Diagnostic
ClearMark Advisory's core engagement. A defined-scope diagnostic of one AI-assisted workflow, delivered in ten to fourteen business days. Apology-Loop Regression
An AI behavioral failure where the model acknowledges a reasoning error and appears to correct course, but reverts to the same flawed logic within subsequent turns or interactions. The correction is performative rather than structural. The model gets better at apologizing while getting no better at the task. See also: Confidence Persistence.
Authority Laundering
An AI behavioral failure where the model presents conclusions that lack sufficient evidential support using language patterns, structural cues, and tonal markers that signal confidence and expertise. The output reads as authoritative, but the authority is manufactured rather than earned from the underlying reasoning. See also: Confidence Persistence, Decision-Signal Drift.

Confidence Persistence
An AI behavioral failure where the model maintains a consistent, confident tone after the evidential or reasoning foundation that originally justified that confidence has shifted, degraded, or been invalidated. Confidence becomes a constant rather than a signal, decoupling from actual reliability. See also: Authority Laundering, Decision-Signal Drift.
Context Collapse
An AI behavioral failure where the model has access to specific, account-level information but defaults to general framing that ignores the specific context available. The model receives detailed, relevant evidence and produces output calibrated to a generic version of the situation rather than the actual one. Decision Authority Boundary
The line between what an AI system may legitimately recommend, what it should escalate, and where it should stop. The decision authority boundary defines the scope of the AI's appropriate influence on the decision chain. When the boundary is poorly defined or unenforced, the AI either overreaches or under-delivers. See also: Escalation Displacement, Expert-User Invalidation.
Decision-Risk Findings Brief

Decision-Signal Drift
An AI behavioral failure where output gradually shifts away from what the underlying evidence supports while maintaining a consistent, confident tone throughout the transition. The drift is invisible to the reader because the surface presentation remains stable even as the evidential foundation erodes. See also: Confidence Persistence, Authority Laundering.
Decision-Signal Integrity
Whether AI output preserves the signal the business needs to make the decision that follows. Decision-signal integrity holds when the output's confidence, specificity, and directional recommendation are proportional to the evidence available, and when the person relying on the output can distinguish between well-supported claims and speculation. Escalation Displacement
An AI behavioral failure where the model routes a decision to a human reviewer not because the evidence is genuinely ambiguous, but because delivering the recommendation directly would require the AI to commit to a position its training incentivizes it to avoid. Expert-User Invalidation
An AI behavioral failure where the model overrides or dismisses domain expertise provided by the user in favor of generic, safety-oriented responses. The AI treats all users as equally uninformed regardless of the expertise signals present in the interaction, producing output that is technically safe but operationally useless to the expert. Guardrail Bleed
An AI behavioral failure where safety mechanisms designed to prevent harm in specific contexts activate in adjacent contexts where they are not relevant, weakening or distorting the decision signal. The guardrail functions as designed but its activation boundary is miscalibrated, suppressing useful output where no safety concern exists. Manufactured Uncertainty
An AI behavioral failure where the model introduces hedging, qualifications, or both-sides framing into output where the available evidence supports a clear directional conclusion. The model produces careful, balanced language not because the evidence is genuinely ambiguous, but because its alignment incentivizes caution over clarity. Process-Truth Conflation
An AI behavioral failure where the model treats procedural correctness as evidence of factual accuracy. The AI observes that a process was followed and infers that the conclusion produced by that process is therefore reliable, conflating the legitimacy of the process with the validity of its output. Reliance Chain
The path from AI input through reasoning and output to where the response enters the decisions and actions that depend on it. The reliance chain maps eight stages: Input, Retrieval, Interpretation, Output, Decision Signal, Human Reliance, Downstream Action, and Business Outcome. Most AI evaluation stops at Output. S
Source-Weighting Delta
The gap between how an AI system should weight evidence sources based on their relevance and reliability, and how it actually weights them. Commonly manifests as the model overweighting general context and underweighting account-specific evidence, producing conclusions that are correct for the category average but wrong for the specific case.
